Odyssey of hell (2021)
The main objective of my Senior Individualized Project Odyssey of Hell was to create a hellscape that was used to be a narrative journey of my moral and beliefs. Using the nine circles of hell from Dante Alighieri"s poem Inferno as a guide I made nine oil paintings that get longer in succession. The process of making these paintings started with only working on one at a time in Park Trade Center but quickly changed to working on all nine at once in my bedroom. I successfully created nine different worlds representing Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery. In the Student Gallery I displayed this painting along all walls forcing the viewer to walk around the gallery to fully immerse the viewer into these worlds. I am very happy with the work I produced for my SIP creating my own version of the Dante's Inferno and can only hope those who seen the work reflected on their morals and beliefs as well.
